Island Monarch in Island Trader Notch
Island Monarch - Conversion 2003 - Photo Album
Island Monarch - Conversion 2003 The Island Monarch is a proven off shore tug of 3000 horse power completely rebuilt by Island Tug in 1995. The Monarch is primarily engaged in pushing and towing of Island Tug's large oil barge fleet. With a 10,000 mile range, and large capable towing gear, the Monarch has proven her capabilities in many ocean tows. In 2003, the Island Monarch under went a conversion to an Articulated Pin system with advanced high lift rudders, and upgrades for foreign going service. All of these modifications were made to match the Monarch to the Island Trader. The Monarch is already capable of both pushing and pulling. The pin system will enable pushing in all ocean and weather conditions. The new rudders are to enable the Monarch, with her relatively low horsepower, to turn the Trader safely and quickly.
